I can't imagine life without art. I've heard all of the cliches, and probably used them all too: Life imitates art; The Art of Living; Art imitates life!

I come from a family of artists, literally. I spend half my time teaching art to children (including my grandchildren), teen and adults in my huge, informal home studio with a fireplace and forest view. And on Saturdays, my daughter-in-law is my paid art assistant. I spend the other half of my time painting and drawing, usually on commissioned work. The best reference is word of mouth.

I am a well kept secret! I have never advertised, or marketed myself or my work.Yet I have earned my keep as an artist on my own terms, as self-indulgent as a smiling housecat. I have framed artwork stacked in every corner and in aging protfolios in every closet.

Way back when, I called my "business" CustomArt because that best described it.  I wanted to get across the idea that I would paint or draw what the customer ordered, unlike most artists, who paint what they like and then try to find someone to buy it. And they do that FOR YEARS.

I am 60 years old and can't imagine life without art. But perhaps it is time to share it with you.
